Golden retriever has two rows of wool that protects the dog from cold
and moisture while they are in a water. Dogs shed almost completely
twice a year. Sometimes dog can shed after being stressed or because
of a sudden weather change or few weeks after giving birth. This breed
shed so much which can be annoying to it’s owner but there’s a few
ways to avoid it or make it better by taking a good care of your dog’s hair
and by balanced diet. If your dog is loosing more hair than usual you
should consult your groomer or vet. Professional groomer will bath, dry
and comb your dog’s hair that will reduce the time of shedding. Long
and intense bath and professional hair drying will let your dog to shed
more hair which will benefit your house with less hair after for a long
time.
EVERYDAY CARE.
You should brush your dog’s hair every day. Golden retriever’s have
long hair. It can be curly or straight. By brushing them everyday you will
help your dog to shed less.
You should use a brush with natural bristles. If your dog has tangled
hair you should use brush with metal bristles or a comb. While brushing
your pet always pay attention to fleas and ticks.
BATH.
Give your dog a bath when necessary, every month and a half to 2
months for an adult pet. You should bath your puppies more often.
Water should be warm and you should use good quality shampoo, if
needed consult with your vet. You should shampoo your dog twice and
use a conditioner for a few minutes then rinse it off. After the bath you
can cut your dog’s claws. If uncomfortable doing it yourself you should
visit a groomer.
BLOW DRYING.
First use a towel to dry off your pet. You can blow dry your dog’s hair
using a powerful hairdryer.
EARS.
Examine your dog’s ears weekly. During warm and hot months of the
year you should examine your dog’s ears after every walk because of
the possibility of finding a tick on your pet.
EYES.
Clean your dog’s eyes daily. Wipe it down using a paper towel towards
nose.
If your dog’s eyes are red or infected you should contact your vet
immediately.
TEETH.
You should brush your dog’s teeth regularly. Use a special toothbrush,
paste and gel. Consult your vet before using any products.
